Amelia updates

Well we had to go to the ER for the first time with little miss Amelia. She cried for about 3 1/2 straight on Sunday night and nothing we were doing would soothe her. We finally loaded her up about 1:30 AM and didn't get back home until 4:00 AM. Turns out she had a really bad ear infection and some upper respiratory congestion. They gave her some Tylenol with codeine which helped her sleep and relieve the pain. We couldn't fill the RX until the next morning. Who knew that the Walgreen's pharmacy is only open until 12:00 but the store is 24 hours. Not really helpful when you have to fill a prescription at 4:00 AM. Anyway- her fever got up to 104.5 yesterday morning which was really scary. Luckily we brought it back down fairly quickly, thanks to great advice from the nurse at our pediatric clinic. Amelia slept most of the day yesterday to make up for her 4 hours of sleep from 4:00 AM-8:00 AM on Monday morning. She is doing much better today but still not quite back to her old self.

In light of Christmas being right around the corner and all that we have to be thankful for- I am attaching some pictures that my good friend Kyle Reynolds took for us. They turned out really good and I wanted to share a few of my favorites. Merry Christmas!!!

Amelia's new tricks

Well, little Miss Amelia has sure been up to a lot since l last posted! She now offically pulls up on any and everything. I came in to get her up from a nap one day and she was standing in her crib waiting for me smiliing. We had to drop the mattress down another level that night so she couldn't climb out. Ever since that day, she has been getting more and more brave. She has had a couple of tumbles but nothing too bad yet. She does almost give me a little heart attack daily though! Here are some pictures of her new tricks and moves.

We went to Phoenix for Thanksgiving to see Patrick's Grandpa and Grandma Barbara. This was Amelia's first time to meet her great grandparents and she loved them! Patrick's grandpa is a gourmet cook and made us quite the feast! The weather was so beautiful and warm- it was high 70's low 80's. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and left on Friday afternoon. It was a short trip but a ton of fun. Luckily Grandpa and Barbara have all of the needed baby items- high chair, pack and play, toys, bathtub, walker, etc. for their other grand kids so this made our life much easier!!! We even had Amelia test out some toys that she might be getting from Santa for Christmas.

Lights of the Ozarks

Amelia & Sam going to the parade-Sam looked surprised in every picture!
We took Amelia and our good friends Sam, Jenn, and Darren to the Lights of the Ozarks. They do a parade and officially light the lights on our downtown square. Sam is just 10 days older than Amelia so they make quite the pair. They both did really well but only because we had plenty of Mum Mums and Puffs to keep them occupied. Amelia really seemed to like all of the lights but she really liked being around all the people.

Sam cried on the way to the parade in the car and Ameila cried on the way home. We came back to our house and ate some food from Loafin Joe's. Amelia went to sleep right away but Sam woke back up and joined in the party. Sam had to borrow some of Amelia's pajamas and luckily she had a pair of plain yellow pjs that fit him otherwise he would have been wearing some serious pink! We had a great time and here are some pictures from the event.

So we were in Denver again in October for Patrick to run in the Denver Marathon. Patrick did awesome- he ran the marathon in 3 hours 50 mins and met his goal of not walking throughout the race. He is already talking about when he does the next one and how he can improve his time and train more!

We also spent some time with our good friends the Williams and the Deets at the Williams cabin in the mountains in Alma (outside of Breckenridge/Dillon area). We had such a wonderful time. We did a corn maze (halfway through because it was getting cold, dark, and the kids were getting restless!) We also had an adults only night out with the Deets and went to White Chocolate Grill by Park Meadows mall- we had such a fun time and good food. The kids had a babysitter and slept the whole time.

We also got to spend some time with Andy and Liz. Liz ran in the half marathon so they were there to help Amelia and me cheer Patrick onto the finish line. They also helped me take care of Patrick after the race and drive him back home before lunch. We then ate lunch downtown at one of our favorites Ted Montana Grill and Amelia sat in a highchair for the first time!

We miss Colorado and all of our friends there so much. Thankfully, we are lucky to be able to have the opportunity to go back and visit frequently.

Razorback game #3

How funny is this view from behind?

Well this was Amelia's 3rd Razorback football game and she did pretty well. We made it through about 30 minutes of the 1st quarter before we had to let her go inside and crawl around. Amelia is getting into more and more things though. Her new favorite thing to do is go through her diaper bag and throw everything out. She got a hold of her formula holder which is a plastic container that hold her powder formula in 3 dividers. She managed to open this and dumped out the powder on the blanket. Then somehow she also got a hold of one of my ketchup packets from my corn dog and got ketchup on the back of her outfit and on the blanket.....

Then magically right before half time (and right before we were about to lose it!) my parents came and whisked her away to the box they were sitting in. Patrick and I actually had a chance to watch the game!

We took our friends Tom and Sydney and their little girl Stella who is 13 months. Stella did awesome and even took a little nap right in the middle of the game! Amelia went to sleep towards the end of the game and my was asleep when my mom was carrying her out of the stadium. Here are some pictures from the big day.

Happy Halloween- a week late!

Well little Miss Amelia was sick for her first Halloween and didn't get to go trick or treating. She got a bad cough that started on Friday night October 30th. She was up several times that night and it was very obvious that she wasn't feeling well. We took her to the sick clinic that our pediatric clinic has on Saturday mornings from 9-12. She was given the diagnosis of croup which basically means that she had a runny nose and a really bad cough- the books all say the cough souns like a "barking seal" I just thought she sounded more like an old lady that had smoked all her life! Poor little thing couldn't cry and had such a sad sounding cough. Needless to say we had a really LONG weekend. The only thing you can really do for croup is use a humidifier, turn on the shower for the hot steam, or go outside where the air is colder. We did all of the above and one especially long night I stood in the shower holding Amelia so she could breathe. Luckily, she is feeling much better now and is back to her happy self.

We decided we couldn't let the adorable fairy princess costume go to waste so we got her dressed up to go and visit her great-grandmothers and her grandparents. Getting her costume on her proved to be quite the ordeal though so hopefully these pictures will work for everyone else we weren't able to visit. We had grand plans to take her to some neighbors and friends too but the simple task of 3 stops proved to be more than enough for us!

I love fall

Checking out the pumpkin

Laughing at Daddy and sticking out her tongue

I love fall! The weather has been so nice and the leaves are at their peak right now so they are beautiful. We dressed Amelia up in her pumpkin dress in honor of fall today for church. She looked so cute at church and got a good report from nursery (we are never really sure if it will be good or bad)! There is one church member that seeks Amelia out every Sunday to see what she is wearing and talk to her. She has 4 grown girls and says Amelia reminds her of all her girls that she raised!
I love these pictures we took of Amelia today. Patrick continued to provide his "fake cough" so she would smile for the camera. She seems to have also found her tongue as you can see in some of the pictures. She also is working on her first two teeth. I can't wait until Halloween to dress her up in her costume.

Amelia laughing

Here is a new video of Amelia and her hilarious laugh. The best part is all Patrick had to do was "fake cough" and she thought it was super funny. I wish I could have been in the room to see the two of them making the video. If you are having a bad day, this should help make it better!! Enjoy!

Our little pumpkin

Well we finally made it to the pumpkin patch today to take pictures of Amelia and get our pumpkins for Halloween. We have been trying to go since it opened on October 1st but have had naptime, bad weather, or other things get in the way. It was chilly today but good weather otherwise. We picked out 4 pumpkins: 1 for me, Patrick, Amelia, and Mia! I can't wait to dress her up for Halloween and take her trick or treating. Here are some pictures of our little pumpkin!
